Unemployed..?!

21.March.2011

How much is the percentage of unemployment rate in the Philippines? I would like to know to welcome myself? No way!

Lately, I've been checking company websites, especially hotels, and job advertising websites, to check the job openings and vacancies. I have been wanting to be employed for a part-time or casual employment while waiting for my Singapore application results. I have sent e-mails with my resume to three companies/hotels as of now. I've been redoing my cover letter over and over again and I have been editing my resume several times now. Maybe I should just go for a walk-in application? I have tried that with a recruiting agency for cruise ships but I was kind of rejected. However, I will try to apply for hotels next time. I'm still going for casual employment since I am not definite with my Singapore application. Ah, I just can't wait doing nothing.

Here's a good news: My parents agreed about me going to Hongkong and they will pay for it. What I'm talking about? My group's thesis paper was accepted for the 9th APacCHRIE to be held in Hongkong on June 2-5, 2011. It was a big opportunity for me so I might as well go there. :)

A seat in the Orchard Road

17.March.2011

Today was very tiring. I and three of my friends went to a recruitment agency for cruise lines. We actually went there only expecting to know what their qualifications and requirements are. In the end, we end up submitting our resume and applying. We really can't believe it at first but when our names were called, we know on that instant that this is the reality of after-school life. Kit and Joseph were given the chance to be interviewed. Actually, I think that the interviewer had a crush on Joseph since he really insisted on looking for a position for him. He was the last one and we waited for him for so long.

After our job hunt venture, Kit and I went to SM Megamall to eat at Orchard Road. We missed Singaporean food that's why we really went there. However, we're somehow disappointed since we knew the authentic taste of the dishes that we ordered. I ordered lemon chicken and the lemon sauce tasted just like the one I made.

Steak House by Bob :)

16.March.2011

I just had a very good meal today at Tender Bob's located at The Block, SM City North EDSA. I ate ribeye steak and I never imagine that there would come a day when I will be paying for my own restaurant bills.

Ribeye Steak. Delicious!

I was with Clar, and we ordered the same entree. She ordered Mud Plate for dessert and I ordered Mango Crepe, we shared it, though.

Mango Crepe. 1 third left. I was too excited that I forgot to take a picture.

Mud Plate. Giant scoop of chocolate ice cream. gummy worms. oreo crushes. chocolate drizzle. chocolate candies. whipped cream. cherry.

I simply love the lemonade. Due to my preferences, I asked if they could give me a cherry, just one piece. Our server returned telling me that she can give me 5 cherries for Php35.00. What am I gonna do with the other four cherries if all I want is just to put it in the lemonade?! But I still like the lemonade. In the end, I took the cherry in the mud plate and crushed it in the lemonade. :)

A-weird-ing

16.March.2011

Yesterday, March 15, 2011, we had our awarding ceremony, though it's informal, for our thesis paper and defense. Despite having various awards, we only got one gold medal for each member of our group. Cheapskate!

Together with the fourth year's awarding, is the awarding of the third year's feasibility study, paper, defense and exhibit. Their exhibit is, of course, less than fabulous than ours, and less expensive as well. We enjoyed ours anyway. The third year's awarding, as compared to our thesis awarding, is quite prepared. They have medals for every award, and they even got trophies.

I got some more good news, our paper got accepted for full paper presentation in APacCHRIE on June 2 to 5. It was a three-day tour to Hongkong. I wish I could go there. First, I need to focus on finding and having a job and then earning enough for the Hongkong Tour. :)

Yearning for a Trip

I was planning to visit Tagaytay since last month. However, I just can't find the time to do that. Actually, I have all the time I need for this previous week but...I just so love my bed over anything else. I'm wishing myself some luck in waking up early. -_-

Sleeping habit

12.March.2011

Every time I was in my hometown, I always sleep in the morning. On the contrary, I always feel sleepy in the dormitory. Were dormitories built with an ambiance condusive for sleeping? I wonder about that.

I actually wanted to have a normal sleep schedule. Actually, I wanted to get rid of my dark circles. Additionally, I miss most of my day time because of sleeping until afternoon since I was sleeping in the morning.

Sweet Craving

09.March.2011

Since sometime last month, I've been wanting to taste new flavors. What I mean is that, I've been searching for restaurants, through blogs and word-of-mouth recommendation, that weren't that overrated (not so much well-known but serves great food).

So, I've started my The Moody Foodie journey by Papa John's Pizza last 24 February 2011. It was followed by Banchetto at Ortigas. For those who don't know what Banchetto is, I will just say that it's a night food market located somewhere in Ortigas. It's only open every Friday (or so I thought?), around midnight to dawn. I also ate, with a few friends, at The Pancake House in Mall of Asia. And today, I ate at Micha's Pastry Shop in University of the Philippines Los Banos (UPLB).

I only went to UPLB to visit a friend and she told me of this really good pastry shop in their place. As part of my The Moody Foodie journey, of course, I tried it.

This is the store. It was small for a dine-in establishment. But, since they basically offer take-out pastries, then the size does not really matter.

This is the Cream Puff that I ordered. This reminds me of Dulcinea's cream puff. The size was the same but the price greatly differs. I don't know about Dulcinea's taste, but I liked this one. This was sold for only Php20.00.

This is a carrot cake, with some kind of icing on top, ordered by my friend. I likeD this too even though I don't really eat carrot cakes. :)

This is the Mango Egg Tart that we ordered for our second round of pastries. This was fantastic aside from the kind of hard crust. Bottom-line, this is the best I had for the day.

Lastly, this is the Chocolate Eclair that I ordered for our second round of pastries. Well, this is good but not that good. Since I already have a chocolate preference for Sun Moulin and nothing beats that taste so far.

After eating, we originally plan on going to the Philippine Carabao Center, but since its raining and we're full we decided to go to my friend's dormitory and get some shut eyes. That was all for my sweet cravings. :)
